Pigeon Forge Things to Do (Kid Friendly!) + Where We Stayed

The Great Smoky Mountains is the most visited U.S. National Park, and for good reason. In addition to the park itself, there are loads of kid-friendly things to do in Pigeon Forge and nearby Gatlinburg, Tennessee! Being from the Cincinnati area, it’s only a 4.5 hour drive, so I’ve traveled here many times. Traveling with a toddler, our goal was to find kid friendly activities, and we did! We usually stay in Gatlinburg, so Pigeon Forge…

Travel + Sloth Nursery Theme Ideas for Your Baby

I’ve always been one to love “themes”. I’m that girl who has been forcing her friends to attend my various themed parties for years. Having a sloth nursery then should come as no surprise! 🦥 Since my wedding in 2014 was travel-themed, most of my home decor is, and even my baby shower was “welcome to the world” themed, I didn’t want to overdo it with another travel themed room. I decided then to merge…

🌷Holland, Michigan : a little piece of the Neth 🌷Holland, Michigan : a little piece of the Netherlands here in the Midwest 😇. So much beauty and fun activities, you need to go! @discoverholland

Founded in 1847 by Dutch immigrants, they brought tulips, windmills, and a whole lot of wooden shoes with them! 🇳🇱 Now it’s a great blend of European charm and small-town vibes.

Here are 5 unique things you *must* do in the Holland area:

1. 🌬️ Explore the windmill, canals, and trails at the @windmillislandgardens . Bonus points for trying all the cheese 🧀

2. 🌷 Stroll among 4.5 million tulips during the Tulip Time Festival! @tulip_time

3. 🚲 Bike along the scenic lakeshore to Big Red Lighthouse, or have a beach day 🏖️

4. 🥖 Grab a pastry at @deboerbakery (because carbs > everything) or drinks at @newhollandbrew 🍻

5. 🕰️ Jump back in time and explore Dutch history, culture, and food at @nelis.dutch.village

🚗 Drive Times to Holland:
- Grand Rapids: 35 mins
- Chicago: 2 hrs 15 mins
- Detroit: 2 hrs 45 mins
- Columbus: 4 hours 30 mins
- Cleveland: 4 hours 30 mins
- Cincinnati: 5 hours 15 mins

How to do it ⬇️ ⭐️ 1: Pull up the AirBNB How to do it ⬇️

⭐️ 1: Pull up the AirBNB listing you want
⭐️ 2: Right click an image and tap “search Google for this image”
⭐️ 3: If the property has its own website, this should come up easily as the “image source”. You can also try typing the property name into Google (if it has a unique name).
⭐️ 4: Compare the price of booking direct versus with AirBNB. Almost always, it’s cheaper without the third party booking host.

👉There are some safety and security benefits to booking through a host site like AirBNB, so make sure to do plenty of research and read several reviews before you book independently.

Details on visiting ⬇️ Ah, how nice it is to Details on visiting ⬇️

Ah, how nice it is to go where the only traffic jams involve bicycles or horse-drawn carriages! 🚲 🐎

This charming, car-free island kinda feels like stepping back in time. 🕰️

It has many older homes, great Victorian architecture (including the stunning Grand Hotel- which by the way there is a romance movie about starring Jane Seymour 🎥 !), and the overall vibe of this place is so unique.

The island is also known for its fudge, 🍫 and biking trails! This was actually so much fun to do with our two young kids. It’s easy to rent bikes and pull along wagons 🚲

🚗 How to Get There from Mackinaw City:

Park your car in Mackinaw City, then hop on a ferry to the island. Two main companies will take you there in 15-20 minutes, and they run from early morning until about 8pm. ⛴️

You can do this as a day trip if short on time!

Make sure to check out my other Michigan road trip posts, 🚙 and follow along for more travel tips and itineraries!
