Things to do in Bowling Green, Kentucky (with kids!): A Weekend Itinerary

Bowling Green, Kentucky is best known for a few things: Caves, a charming downtown, Corvettes, and its resident white squirrels! It's also a great destination for families, with many unique things to do. In the heart of the state, Bowling Green offers plenty of outdoor adventures (or relaxing activities) for adult travelers, as well as young families.  After a visit here as a weekend trip, here is my itinerary of the best things to do…

Pigeon Forge Things to Do (Kid Friendly!) + Where We Stayed

Pigeon force kid friendly things to do.

The Great Smoky Mountains is the most visited U.S. National Park, and for good reason. In addition to the park itself, there are loads of kid-friendly things to do in Pigeon Forge and nearby Gatlinburg, Tennessee! Being from the Cincinnati area, it’s only a 4.5 hour drive, so I’ve traveled here many times. Traveling with a toddler, our goal was to find kid friendly activities, and we did! We usually stay in Gatlinburg, so Pigeon Forge…

Tips for Travelling with a Baby (+ Packing List!)

Travel: We usually think of a chill getaway where we can meander about as we please, resting on a tropical beach. Travelling with a baby though? An entirely different story! Travelling with a baby or toddler isn't relaxing. That is a fact. That doesn't mean it isn't still fun, nor that you shouldn't do it! You have to set your expectations accordingly, and be flexible. It will require a lot of planning- but the better…

Norris Lake Cabins & Things to Do

For a relaxing and easy getaway, renting out a Norris Lake cabin or house is a great idea! Only a 4 hour drive from Cincinnati, this beautiful spot in Tennessee is perfect for a weekend on the water. My husband and I headed to Norris Lake for the chance to relax, and get in some swimming (without driving to the ocean). The cabin we rented was the ideal setup to soak up some sun, and…

Travel + Sloth Nursery Theme Ideas for Your Baby

I’ve always been one to love “themes”. I’m that girl who has been forcing her friends to attend my various themed parties for years. Having a sloth nursery then should come as no surprise! 🦥 Since my wedding in 2014 was travel-themed, most of my home decor is, and even my baby shower was “welcome to the world” themed, I didn’t want to overdo it with another travel themed room. I decided then to merge…

It’s scenic, but when you’re meant to go 45mph on a narrow one lane road (that’s is not a one WAY road mind you), it can be a little nerve wracking 🫣

Other cars popping up out of nowhere- plus the occasional rogue sheep- makes things… memorable. 🐑

One museum trip turned into the best family weeken One museum trip turned into the best family weekend we’ve had in a while 🏇

We originally headed to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby Museum @derbymuseum ! 🏇 If you haven’t been, it’s genuinely worth it. Way more interactive than we realized, and the kids were loving it.

We also got tickets to see the live racing happening right next to it at @churchilldowns , and that ended up being one of those unexpected travel favorites! 🥳 Who knew my 5 year old would love helping his dad bet on horses so much 😜

We also hit up PlayPort playground @waterfrontparklou (save this if you have little ones), spent a few hours at @louisvillezooofficial , and explored the city in between. 🏙️

Louisville is an ideal weekend trip destination (just 1.5 hours from NKY!), and I feel like a lot of people have been sleeping on it. 🚙

We packed in two full days without feeling rushed, and the kids were happy the whole time (which as any mom knows, is the real win 😄)

If you’re looking for a unique and character filled family getaway, @gotolouisville needs to be on your list! 📍

Thank you so much to the derby museum for hosting us! 💙

Also thanks to @aloftlouisville for being the perfect place to stay to explore the city! 🏨

Seeing the whale shark at Georgia Aquarium was every bit as incredible as I hoped! 🩵

We planned our trip to Atlanta specifically to visit here, and it for sure lived up to the hype! 🐬

((If you ever want a way to break up your drive from Kentucky to Florida, this is one way to go!)) 🚙

Also, right now at @georgiaaquarium they have a special event going on (included with all tickets!)...

It’s called ✨ Glow Nights, and it transforms the aquarium with fun lighting, projections, themed entertainment, and special glow in the dark vibes and performances. 🪼This happens every evening after 4 p.m. through August 9!

We spent around 5 hours here, as there is so much to see. It’s one of the largest aquariums in the world with over 8 different galleries! 🩵

Dolphin & sea lion presentations are also included in general admission tickets! 🐬🦭

Let me know if you have any questions ⬇️

Thank you so much to the aquarium for hosting us- core memories made!
