Best Hikes in the Smokies (Smoky Mountains National Park)

If you're visiting the Great Smoky Mountains or Gatlinburg area, going on a hike is THE main attraction! These are (in my opinion) the best hikes in the Smokies: Having visited nearby Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg on many separate occasions, these are the hikes that stand out to me most over the years. Check the park website for trail conditions and closures before setting out. Map with my favorite Smoky Mountain hikes pinned: Some links…

Probably my favorite castle we visited on our two week road trip through Great Britain, 🇬🇧 this medieval gem has a history as epic as its views! 🏰

This 13th-century castle has seen many battles, betrayals, and royal intrigue 👑!

While what remains is just stone ruins, there’s still a sense of what it once was. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

About a 1-hour drive from Swansea, 1.5 hours from Cardiff, or a 4-hour road trip from London, it’s a great escape for history lovers! 🏰

💰To visit, it’s £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children. The hike up may be a bit tricky for some, & definitely don’t try to bring a stroller 😜

Don’t forget to explore the secret cave below! Also get some scones at the cafe where you buy your tickets ☕️!

Explaining the list ⬇️ As a huge fan of “Harry P Explaining the list ⬇️

As a huge fan of “Harry Potter” ⚡️🪄(Y’all don’t even comprehend how intense of a fan I was in the early 2000s in particular) 🙈😅, of course an added bonus of going to Scotland is the chance to see filming locations or places that inspired the books. 📚

I wish we could’ve gone to even more, but here are a few:

📍 Glenfinnan Viaduct- Arguably the most well known Scottish HP film location, this is where they shot many aerial scenes of the Hogwarts Express 🚂

📍Victoria Street- In the heart of old Edinburgh, this street is supposedly the inspiration behind Diagon Alley 🪄 (Although JK did recently debunk this on her Twitter 🙈)

📍 Museum Context- A beautifully curated HP inspired shop on Victoria Street! I have a separate reel on this you can check out! 📚

📍 Balmoral Hotel- Once J.K. Rowling was rolling in the cash (ha!), she booked a room here to finish writing Deathly Hallows. You can see her signature on a statue there today!

📍 Greyfriar’s Kirkyard- This centuries old cemetery in Edinburgh is supposedly where J.K. found inspiration for many character names (buried there you’ll find a Thomas Riddell, McGonagall, & more!) 🪦! (However, she again debunked this as a rumor) 🤷🏻‍♀️

📍Rannoch Moor- Where they filmed the Death Eaters stopping the Hogwarts Express 🚂 in Deathly Hallows 1 ☠️

📍 Loch Shiel- Used as the filming backdrop of Hogwarts in several of the movies. 🏰 Also is the “Black Lake” in Prisoner of Azkaban

⚡️ Of course there are so many more all over the country, but these are just a few 😇

🇪🇸Spain has something for everyone! There’s so m 🇪🇸Spain has something for everyone!

There’s so much variety in landscape, food, & culture in such a relatively small area. 🎉

I’ve spent a lot of time exploring Spain, & of all the places I’ve traveled, it’s still my favorite 🌍.

I spent the majority of my time in Valencia, so I’m a bit biased towards it, but I think it’s justified 😀!

You might be wondering why Madrid and Barcelona didn’t make my list… 🧐 While I do recommend visiting them, they just weren’t my vibe. I’m a fan of the beach towns & Andalucía most it seems! ☀️

Have you been to Spain? Do you have a favorite city? 👇🏼
