Best Tacos: Cincinnati (+Latin Food!)

Over the years, my husband and I began a quest to find the best, most authentic tacos in the area. Over time, it evolved to include Latin American food in general. We were always trying to find that one local place that could come close to the delicious foods we have had on our travels in South America.  After several years, this is the list we came up with! Here are our own opinions of…

Sound of Music Sites in Salzburg, Austria

The hills are alive... with the sound of music! While you won’t encounter many locals raving about this classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, the vast majority of tourists to Salzburg will be! Growing up with a mom who is absolutely enamored by the musical retelling of the Von Trapp family story, I’ve always dreamed of seeing the places from that timeless and classic film. In the summer of 2012, I was fortunate enough to visit…

Cuzco, Peru: Top 10 Things to Do

I’ve been to many places around the world, and in all sincerity, Cuzco is one of my favorites. Maybe it’s the Spanish teacher and history lover in me, but I don’t think that’s all there is to it. Cuzco is truly unique, and has such a compelling and unparalleled history. It combines the ancient with the new in a way I’ve never seen elsewhere. The indigenous cultures blend together in the city’s art and history,…

Kentucky: Top Things to Do

Unique things to do in Kentucky

When most people think of Kentucky, often the first thing they'll envision is horse races, big hats, and maybe some barefoot children running around a coal mine in the hollers of the Appalachians. While these images (however stereotypical) may represent portions of the bluegrass state, there is so much more than just banjos and moonshine in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky! As a born and raised Kentucky girl with a love of exploration, here are…

costa rica how is it study abroad

Every year, thousands of American college students make their way down to Central America to study abroad in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. After my own great experience, I've listed my top reasons to study abroad in Costa Rica.  While there are many options as to where to base yourself, I was specifically living and studying in Heredia. There are a HUGE variety of University programs in this city and in San Jose, click…

Colombia: Best Things to Do- 5 Incredible Experiences

Colombia is a beautiful country filled with friendly people, stunning landscapes, and a rich culture. Unfortunately though, it is also a bit misunderstood. Its reputation from the violence in the 1990’s does not seem to have left it just yet. When I decided to go to Colombia, the main reactions I got from people initially included things like “OMG! Why?” “Is it even safe?” “You are going to get shot!” “What will you even do there?!”-…

🇨🇴 Happy engagement anniversary to my husban 🇨🇴 Happy engagement anniversary to my husband John💍 ! Travel was one of the first things we bonded over when we met at a college party in Lexington, and I've loved all our adventures over the years 🌏 (This was 9 years ago 😅)!

We took this photo right after we got engaged! Before that, we'd been dating for over 4 years. I had casually mentioned several times all my criteria for my ideal proposal, and he made it happen 🥰

I told him:

💙1) It needs to be a cool, memorable location- preferably in another country! ✈️

💙2) You need to talk to my Dad first and get his blessing to propose 😃

💙3) I would love a surprise engagement party afterwards 🎉 (he actually did surprise me with one after we flew back home)

💙4) You better get down on one knee or I'm saying no 😜

Here's the proposal story, if you wanna know: 👇🏼

🧳 We were on a two week backpacking trip through Colombia. Near the last day of the trip, we rode horses on this insane humid jungle trail. 🐎 I was so sweaty and irritated that when we got to this beach an hour later, I was whining about getting in the water immediately. 🌴 John insisted I should wait until we took a photo first (because "my hair would look bad if I got it wet" 😂), and I conceded. He set up the tripod, and while I thought we were just taking a photo, he popped the question! 💍

Of course now we always joke about how bad of a mood I was in right before the proposal. That's life for you I guess! 😃

My travel buddy is the cutest 💕 Lately Lorenzo My travel buddy is the cutest 💕

Lately Lorenzo hasn’t been very cooperative with our stroller. 😑 He’s always trying to escape so he can “walk” like a big kid. This new @bentleytrike works great for him now because he can turn the steering wheel, which keeps him engaged, and then he quits trying to escape!! 🥳

This trike has six different modes, so it basically grows with your child. It’s stylish, and functional- Right now Lorenzo uses the foot rests and the safety bar setting in his seat, but in a few months he’ll be able to use it as just a tricycle. 🚲

🇮🇩 This photo is from 2011! 😮Hard to beli 🇮🇩 This photo is from 2011! 😮Hard to believe this was a decade ago. I’m grateful my (then just my boyfriend!) husband John had a nice DSLR camera back then so my photo memories are good quality! 😎 Not many other travelers had them at the time- little handheld digital cameras were the way to go! 📸 I guess we were trendsetters because I even took some artsy “back pics” 😂!

When I went here, I didn’t know anyone else who had ever been to Bali. I knew next to nothing about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️That is a far cry from today, with it being a huge travel hot spot. 🌎

We stayed in a private room hostel for $30 a night, and it was so nice. I wonder if we could find such a steal these days… 🤔

I still remember all the details of my 3 weeks backpacking Southeast Asia so vividly. 💕 I think that’s in part to my large amount of photos, plus my daily detailed journaling!

Do you have a lot of good photos from pre-social media travels? 👇🏼

The golden age of travel- throwback (wow see what The golden age of travel- throwback (wow see what I did there 😬) PS what even is my outfit? 😅 Anyways don’t judge, this photo is from 2011!

I haven’t really traveled much since this summer, and now it feels too cold to go anywhere locally even. 🥶 Plus my job has been crazy lately 👩🏻‍🏫 and I have a grumpy 1 year old.

So, with that… I’m throwing it back to the “golden age of travel” 🧳 when I backpacked around Southeast Asia for three weeks!

Those weeks are the only time I’ve spent in Asia- so it’s definitely my “least explored” part of the world. 🌏

Is there a certain continent or region that you’d consider your “least explored”? 👇🏼
