Istanbul in 3 Days: Top Things to Do

Istanbul is a city that cannot be sufficiently described without being seen. At one corner you've traveled back in time to haggle for spices. At the the next, you're taking a modern trolley to a perfectly curated museum. This city seems to wear a veil of mystery, and is so many things in one. The Constantinople of the ancient world, Istanbul is located on the bridge between two continents, and this is apparent in so…

Yes, these places really do have those names 😇 Yes, these places really do have those names 😇

Why Beaverlick? 🔵The community’s name comes from its location at the source of the Beaver Branch of Big Bone Creek.

Ok, so why is the nearby state park called “Big Bone Lick”? 🔵The name comes from the amazing history! Part 1: The land here contained countless “big bones” of prehistoric animals such as mastodons, mammoths, and giant sloths. 🦣 Part 2: It’s a salt lick 🧂

Ok but what’s a “lick”?🔵An area of natural salt and sulfur springs that attract animals who go and lick it up to get their fill of salt that they don’t get from plants alone.

But for real, “Sugartit”??🔵Yup, that’s the former name of the town I used to live in, but it was changed in the 1880s (thankfully!). At the time, a sugartit was what they called a small candy. It could also refer to the practice of putting sugar in a cloth and giving it to children to use, similar to a pacifier.

🎉 So, now that you know its fun history- head over to enjoy some truly delicious desserts in a unique part of the state! It’s easy to combine with a visit to the state park, or the nearby town of Rabbit Hash too!

Underrated travel activity: Going to historic ceme Underrated travel activity: Going to historic cemeteries! Strange? Probably. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But it’s like a free walking history tour at an outdoor sculpture museum!

Ok maybe it’s weird, but hear me out- if you love history, or are really into ancestry research like me then they are so fascinating! Reading those old epitaphs- gotta love it 🪦.

I feel like you learn a lot from reading the old graves, and it really drives home what hard lives people had before modern medicine. 😞 It also makes me really appreciate what our ancestors went through so we could be where we are today.

Plus…my toddler is obsessed with going to them now so he can look for ghosts 👻 😂

Anyone else love a good cemetery walk? 👇🏼

Y’all gotta stop hating on Cincinnati! 🇺🇸 Y’all gotta stop hating on Cincinnati! 🇺🇸 Just like anywhere it’s not perfect, but it’s actually a pretty great city and I feel very fortunate to have been born and raised in this area (technically I’m a northern Kentucky girl but you know how it goes 💁🏻‍♀️)!

If you have any questions about the locations in this video just let me know! ⬇️

⭐️ Posts about specific locations I’ve traveled to and things to do or see there (lately sharing my backlog of Scotland and Wales content!)

⭐️Tips for making family travel, toddler travel, and travel with a baby go smoothly (although I’m by no means an expert 😅), and sharing some great baby travel products

⭐️ Budget travel tips, “hacks”, and general advice on ways to make travel as attainable and affordable as can be. I like to share useful apps, and specific tactics I’ve used over the years

⭐️ Local content! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things to do in Cincinnati and Kentucky (& nearby!) since I’m based here and inevitably can’t travel quite as much this year with a 👶 newborn.

If you read all this, comment with the 🦥 sloth emoji and then I’ll know who my truest fans are 😜

We wanted to try out something new, and so renting We wanted to try out something new, and so renting a pool by the hour with @swimply was a great idea! 🏊‍♂️ It basically works like AirBNB where local pool owners can choose to rent out their backyards, pools, and/or hot tubs. 🏝️ Most places allow bigger groups too, so if a bunch of friends went in on it, it’s not a bad price at all!

There aren’t too many listings for my area, 😅 but bigger cities of course have loads more. Either way this was still really fun and I’d definitely recommend it as a way to beat the heat this summer! ☀️

👉👉To get $100 towards your first rental, go to the referral link in my bio!

(PS the pools I did the screen record of are located in NYC)
